Who we are
The City of Chandler Human Resources team, consisting of 23 positions, supports over 2200 full-time, temporary and part-time employees in all areas of Human Resources, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, labor relations, classification and compensation, leave management, benefits, wellness, occupational health and safety and organizational development. We are a progressive and innovative team that partners with employees and citizens to deliver quality Human Resources services in support of the City of Chandler's Mission and Values.

Who we are looking for
A Human Resources leader that has a passion for customer service, teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to lead and mentor a high functioning team. We are looking for an experienced human resource professional who has the ability to lead in all functions of Human Resources. This position will be assigned to oversee one or more functional areas in the division based on the successful candidate's experience. The ideal candidate will have a generalist background with governmental experience in employee relations, recruitment and selection, development and oversight of HR policies and processes, organizational development/training, leave management and HRIS. We are looking for someone to who has strong leadership and customer service skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities. This position is part of the overall Human Resources leadership team.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Personnel Administration or a related field; and
• At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a human resources generalist including recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, employee relations, leave management, occupational health and safety, and human resource information systems; and
• A minimum of two years of supervisory or lead experience; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience in a municipal environment preferred.

Essential Functions
1. Supervises and oversees the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, manages schedules and work priorities, monitors and evaluates performance, facilitates access to resources and training, provides guidance and addresses issues, conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions.
2. Provides human resources advice and strategic direction to assigned departments.
3. Manages assigned program budgets, prepares cost estimates, submits justifications as needed.
4. Reviews and facilitates changes to human resource-related policies or procedures.
5. Prepares complex, controversial or highly sensitive reports.

The position available is a full-time position and is subject to a six (6) month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for four (4) months should another position become available.
